Lana Del Rey not only covers the latest issue of V Magazine, she has given a rare interview to James Franco where she clarified her “anti-feminist” quote from her 2014 Fader cover story.
Last year, Del Rey told The Fader that “the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept” to her.
“I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities,” she continued. “Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested.”
In her interview with Franco, Del Rey says..
“the luxury we have as a younger generation is being able to figure out where we want to go from here, which is why I’ve said things like, ‘I don’t focus on feminism, I focus on the future. “It’s not to say that there’s not more to do in that area,” she added. “I’ve gotten to witness through history the evolution of so many movements and now I’m standing at the forefront of new technological movements.”
The singer also detailed to Franco and V Magazine her upcoming album Honeymoon and explained the significance of its title. “It’s the word that sums up the ultimate dream,” she said. “I mean, life is a honeymoon. Life, love, paradise, freedoms…that’s forever.” Del Rey has become a muse for actor/artist/writer Franco, who had penned an ode to the singer in January for V Magazine. He also co-wrote a book about her called Flip-Side: Real and Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey, to be released by Penguin Random House in 2016.
